Mini Tummy Tuck (Mini Abdominoplasty)
A few years ago, the only option was a full abdominoplasty, however, in selected cases, a mini tummy tuck (mini abdominoplasty) is possible. A ‘mini’ abdominoplasty removes some excess skin and fat from the lower abdominal wall. Patients with less excess skin can be candidates for the mini Abdominoplasty, where the scar is usually much shorter and there is no scar around the belly button. It’s still an invasive surgical procedure like the full abdominoplasty, but removes a smaller area of skin creating a toned appearance. Sometimes referred to as a partial tummy tuck, this procedure helps to restore firmness that may have been lost due to pregnancy or weight loss. Loose skin and fat are separated from the muscle, which can be tightened during the same procedure. The area can be contoured further using liposuction, before the excess skin is removed and the two sections of skin are stitched back together. The mini tuck is a good option for men and women who have a smaller amount of saggy skin in the abdominal area, for who a full abdominoplasty is not possible, and would still like to define their tummy. The benefits of a mini tummy tuck versus a traditional tummy tuck vary from individual to individual, and consequently it’s important to discuss your expectations with Mr Coady so he can recommend the best option for your requirements.
